Amara Karuna


Amara has been involved with Network for New Culture for many years and is the Director of the New Culture Hawaii Winter Camp.  She lives in Oregon and on the Big Island of Hawaii in the New Culture community called La’akea Permaculture Community.  

Amara is a main organizer of the Oregon Tantra Festival, and the Cascadia Tantra Festival, both events that offer a variety of classes on sacred relationship and sexuality as a spiritual path.

She also organizes for International School of Temple Arts, for their Level One and two week long trainings in sacred sexual healing through Karuna Retreats, in Hawaii, Oregon and Washington.

Amara has trained extensively in psychic reading, massage, healing and meditation, and taught Re-evaluation Co-counseling, a method of peer counseling, for over five years. She created her own approach to peer counseling, called Holistic Peer Counseling  integrating spiritual meditation practices, psychic healing and body centered techniques. 

She is also a professional therapist and relationship coach, and has been in open relationships most of her life. She is part of a land based, New Cluture intentional community in Hawaii since 2008, La'akea Permaculture Community.

Since 2003 she has been studying and teaching Tantra, relationship and sacred spot work. She has studied 6 kinds of sexual healing modalities, and now teaches her own blend called Sacred Pelvic Healing Massage.   She authored the Sacred Pelvic Healing Massage Practice Manual.  She also created and teaches a potent form of inner child healing, and authored the book Heartbeat Nurturing Therapy, see
